As festival goers left the Fall 2003 edition of the Beanstock Acoustical Music Festival, it could be concluded that the "circle" of fans had been widened, and remains unbroken. "It was a killer festival" Festival Organizer Dan Magers said. "We had the best, although small, crowd I have ever seen anywhere. Much enthusiasm."

The Coyote Ridge Ranch in Tom Bean, Texas was host to a stunning array of local Texas acoustical music talent. Situated amidst the autumnal forest backdrop of the Coyote Stage, Saturday’s afternoon performances kicked off with Tuberville, Ed Rogers, Ed Burleson, and a favorite from the spring show, Alma Squillante. As the sun went down, the musical intensity began to go up as Victor Andrada, Vince Bell, Alex Whitmore, and the MoJoMen took to the stage. Vince Bell receives the "traveled the farthest for Beanstock" award as he and his wife Sara drove all the way from Sante Fe, New Mexico to play. Julie Johnson, a surprise act, closed the show with selections ranging from her original compositions to Janis Joplin's "Bobby McGee."

In the true spirit of the Kerrville Folk Festival, the love of great music did not end with the stage show. "I saw folks dance like no one was watching." Magers said. "The campgrounds were full. We had at least forty campers in the camp area and more up on the hill in the meadow. Campfire picking went till early morning."

Sunday’s musical line-up was equally impressive and entertaining. Jim Bush, Beanstock veterans Chip and Jonna Woodburn, David Byboth, Steve Brooks, and Mark Gorman played during what turned out to be one of the best days weather wise that the festival has experienced. Sunday night rocked with more Beanstock alumni Jay Johnson and the Chris Miller Band.

With the fall concert successfully concluded, Magers, had a few moments to reflect on the direction his festival has begun to take. "It’s growing. We seem to be developing a loyal core of fans who appreciate fine Texas acoustical music" he said. "This genre of music is strongly rooted in this state, and has the potential to attract many more fans if we can just spread the word." Based on this festival, it appears that the word is out and is just beginning to spread.
