Chris Miller

A refreshing new sound and style on the Texas music scene, Chris Miller bursts onto the circuit in Houston, Texas playing small clubs at the age of 15. Chris moved to Dallas in 1991 and had been playing bass and singing backup in honky tonks for various Top 40 Country bands. In late 2000, Chris started his own solo project that has been inspired by Texas honky tonk, Texas blues and other great artists! Chris can be seen playing in various forms. Whether he is playing solo acoustic, with the Chris Miller Trio, or the Chris Miller Band, the show is always filled with emotion and soul. Chris has shared stages with Texas greats such as Ray Benson, Stephanie Urbina Jones, Mark David Manders, Gary P. Nunn, Asleep at the Wheel, Max Stalling and pop sensations En Vogue.

In 2001, Chris released his debut CD, Singing for the Dogs. Later that year, True Value Hardware and 96.3 KSCS named Chris Best New Country Artist in DFW (2001). In summer of 2002, he released his second CD, Hey Now, which is an all-acoustic CD. With nearly 60 live appearances throughout Texas and the US in 2002 (including a tour in July), Chris shows no signs of slowing down. The New Year is no exception. The Chris Miller Band has completed Chris’ third CD 10 More Miles and released it on May 22nd followed by a 14 show-15 day tour throughout the Gulf and East Coasts which received national press.

Chris definitely brings a pop and rocking side to his country. Chris writes passionately about what he knows and loves…his life, his family, and his home. With songs that you just can’t get out your head, Chris crosses over pop, country, and blues to create an unforgettable new blend of true music, true talent and true life!

Chris Miller – (Houston, TX) acoustic & electric guitar, lead vocals, harmonica

Chris brings over 15 years of songwriting, studio, and stage experience to the band. Influenced by soul, blues, country, and other pop artists, Chris started out a bass player and back up singer. Chris backed up every type of act from country, hip-hop, rock, and even a short stint with Carnival Cruise Lines late show band. Chris helped write much of the material for his previous projects. Over the years, Chris had put songs aside that didn’t seem to fit into his other projects. Chris is now the primary writer in his own band and has gained much recognition for his songs, voice, and stage presence.

Matt Swaney – (Dallas, TX) lead guitar, background vocals

Matt is a seasoned veteran. Matt began playing in bands in high school around Dallas. Later, after attending University of Texas, Matt returned home to Dallas and was successful in the Deep Ellum scene. Matt brings a pureness to the band. Not only is Matt an extremely talented co-writer, he also brings straight ahead, "no-nonsense" guitar playing. A self-dubbed "gear freak", Matt is constantly tweaking his sound and vintage gear to perfection.

Ken Sommerhalter – (Monmouth County, NJ) drums

Ken was brought to Texas to attend the University of North Texas School of Music in the early 90’s. Ken has been in Dallas ever since. Ken hooked up with Matt and Chris about 6 years ago playing showcases and honky-tonks. They have been playing together now in studios and on stage ever since. Ken is a total pro drummer. You can set your watch to this guy.

David Palmer – (New Orleans, LA) bass, background vocals

David is the newest and youngest member, but definitely is experienced. David has spent the past few years in various rock bands playing clubs and working in the studio. David brings new energy to the band and is ready for any challenge that pops up. David has also becoming a strong vocalist. David is a great promoter for the band and is a great asset to the group.
